[Near As I Can Tell...] Kit Reveal: Crosshair (Scarred)
CATEGORIES: Attacker, Bad Batch
That’s… it? Not really giving us much to work with here, are they?
Basic - A Hit or A Miss
Final Text: Deal Physical damage to target enemy 3 times and inflict them with Defense Down for 2 turns, which can't be evaded or resisted. If this attack misses, Expose them for 2 turns, which can't be evaded or resisted.
Okay, so the ability is called “a hit or a miss” but it’s actually “3 hits or 3 misses or maybe 2 hits and 1 miss or really any combination of hits and misses totalling 3.” I mean, I get why they didn’t go with the longer name, but also I really wish they had. So much opportunity for comedy in this game and the best CG gives us is Jar Jar sticking his tongue out. Tragic.
Although now that I’ve said this, the description really does seem like it’s either 3 hits or 3 misses with no inbetween. Otherwise many attacks will result in both debuffs being applied, and I highly doubt that’s the design intent.
Also, and maybe I’m just being way too nitpicky here… but Crosshair ONLY SHOOTS TWICE in the animation. It’s so dumb. There are three impacts on the droid, but the third impact just appears from nowhere! Watch the barrel of the gun… it only shoots two times. Now watch the droid… it gets hit twice, and then has a third “oh I got hit” burst despite there being no third shot! This is just lazy fucking animation, CG.
SPECIAL 1: I Will Handle It (Cooldown: 3)
Final Text: Deal Physical damage to target enemy, dealing 10% more damage for each relic amplifier level Crosshair (Scarred) has. Call target Bad Batch ally to assist, dealing 50% more damage.
If Crosshair (Scarred) was the target ally, he is not called to assist and instead removes 6 stacks of Shaken from himself and Stuns the target enemy for 1 turn.
If ally Omega (Fugitive) is in the leader slot and the target enemy took damage from a Bad Batch ally's attack on the previous turn, reduce the cooldown of Target Secured by 1.
I do not understand what’s happening in this animation. What is he throwing? It’s not a grenade, because why shoot the grenade you just threw when you could, instead, throw the grenade at the target and shoot the target? It’s not like shooting a grenade makes it grenade harder somehow. So maybe it’s like… a baseball? Or some kind of space-skeet? But also… why shoot that when you could shoot the person you’re fighting instead?
Oh, wait, I see why. It’s so your friend can punch them. Because punches are famously more dangerous than bullets. Or… blaster blasts. Whatever. Silly me.
At least there isn’t a weird phantom extra hit in the animation this time.
SPECIAL 2: Target Secured (Cooldown: 8)
Final Text: Crosshair (Scarred) gains 200% Critical Damage until the end of his turn.
Deal Physical damage to target enemy and inflict Armor Shred until the end of the encounter.
This attack deals 50% more damage based on the number of turns taken by enemies and Crosshair (Scarred) before Target Secured is used again (max 500%).
This attack can't be evaded and can't be used if Crosshair (Scarred) has Shaken.
That’s… a lot of damage. Like a LOT a lot. It’s like he went to Big Lots, bought the whole lot, and then filled the lot with other lots such that it’s lots all the way down.
Of course you’ve got to remove the “shaken” debuff to use it, so that’s something…
UNIQUE 1: It's In My Head (Zeta, Omicron)
Final Text: At the start of battle, Crosshair (Scarred) gains 200% Defense for 3 turns and is inflicted with 20 stacks of Shaken, which can't be copied, dispelled, evaded, or resisted.
Whenever Crosshair (Scarred) gains a stack of Target Practice, he removes 1 stack of Shaken and gains 15% Turn Meter.
Whenever all stacks of Shaken are removed, Crosshair (Scarred) dispels all debuffs on himself and takes a bonus turn. He gains 100% Accuracy while targeting a Marked enemy.
If there are no Galactic Legends, Crosshair (Scarred)'s attacks ignore Protection.
While in Grand Arenas and there are no Galactic legends: Whenever Crosshair (Scarred) is inflicted with a debuff, he dispels it and gains 5% Offense (stacking, max 100%) for 1 turn. Whenever a Bad Batch ally with Target Practice uses a Special ability, Crosshair (Scarred) assists.
Shaken: -10% Accuracy, this effect persists through defeat
So he starts with -200% accuracy? Woof. He’ll be the new scav rey! Maybe even JMK!
I jest. There are ways to remove those debuff stacks so that crosshair can actually hit things.
Honestly I think this is a fun mechanic.
Also I expect a future conquest to have “remove 50 stacks of shaken” as a feat.
