CATEGORIES: Support, Clone Trooper, Empire
I gotta be honest: This guy looks badass. I hope his kit matches. I haven’t watched bad batch seasons 2 or 3 (because 1 was… very bland), but I’m always interested in learning the lore behind new characters I didn’t know existed.
Basic - Infiltrate and Extract
Final Text:
Deal Physical damage and inflict Speed Down on target enemy for 2 turns.
On CX-2's turn, if the target enemy has Order 66, Empire allies gain 10% Turn Meter and recover 10% Health. If CX-2 was Stealthed, recover an additional 10% Health. CX-2 Stealths for 1 turn.
I’m not sure what about “infiltrate” or “extract” told the art team to “make him shoot a guy” but here we are. Personally, I’d have gone with “strike from the shadows” or “hidden and dangerous” or maybe just “sneak in a shoot a dude” rather than two words that don’t even imply violence.
You know who “extracts” things? My dentist. Gets in there with his drills and pliers and other implements of medieval torture and extracts them pearly whites faster than you can say “akshully he’s extracting them because they’re brown and slimy.”
But hey, speed down on basic is nice.
SPECIAL 1: Instruments of the Empire (Cooldown: 3)
Final Text:
Deal Physical damage to target enemy and inflict them with Disarm for 2 turns or until CX-2 is defeated and remove it from all other enemies, which can't be copied, dispelled, evaded, or resisted. Inflict target enemy with Vulnerable for 2 turns.Empire allies gain bonuses based on their role, and if there is an active Lord Vader ally, he gains all of these bonuses:
Attackers: Gain Offense Up for 2 turns
Healers and Supports: Gain Speed Up for 2 turns
Tanks: Gain 30% bonus Protection for 2 turns
Oh this does that weird thing General “take your kid to the battlefield day” Hera does: It applies a debuff that also heals anyone else suffering from the same debuff. Like, mechanically I get it. They only want you to be able to put the debuff on one guy at a time. Fine. But logically this makes no goddamn sense. DISARM. In Star Wars, this is literally removing a dude’s arm (or, in this case and the case of Luke Skywalker, their hand). You can’t heal a missing arm by cutting off someone else’s arm! That’s now how cutting off arms works!!!
I just… there’s gotta be a better way. Also… why does this arm cutting off only last for 2 turns like some kind of flesh wound? HIS ARM IS OFF!
UNIQUE 1: You Chose the Wrong Side (Zeta, Omicron)
Final Text:
Whenever an enemy dispels a debuff, all Empire allies gain 10% bonus Protection until the end of the encounter.
At the start of battle, if CC-1119 "Appo" is an ally, all Empire allies can ignore taunt effects to target enemies inflicted with Order 66 and gain Instant Defeat Immunity until the end of battle or CX-2 is defeated, which can't be copied, dispelled or prevented. If all allies gained Dramatic Entrance at the start of encounter, all allies gain Dramatic Entrance for 2 turns whenever an enemy unit is defeated.
Design Note: Dramatic Entrance: +25% Offense; deal bonus True damage equal to 10% of the target's Max Health, which can't be evaded; gain 20% Turn Meter and Dramatic Entrance for 2 turns if this ship unit defeats an enemy
While in 3v3 Grand Arenas: Empire allies gain 100% Max Health.
If all allies at the start of battle are Dark Side Clone Troopers and/or Lord Vader, all allies gain 50% Offense, and the first time they fall below 50% Health, they recover 100% Health and gain 30% bonus Protection for 2 turns.
Whenever any stacks of Damage Over Time are dispelled on the enemy, they gain a stack of Damage Over Time, which can't be dispelled, evaded, or resisted, until the end of battle.
If CC-1119 "Appo" is active, CX-2 is immune to taunt effects and can't be targeted during enemy turns.
First: Thanks be to CG for finally adding a note about what these abilities do! The lack of an in-game glossary makes memorizing every one of the several hundred abilities both necessary and painful. These reminders help a ton. But man do I wish this game had the same sort of in-game glossary that Lord of the Rings had. I mean that was like the only good thing about that game, but it was SO GOOD.
Anyway, I see the words “bonus protection” and my spidey-sense starts tingling. This is definitely not the result of eating a several days old sausage I found behind my toaster this morning. Why would you even suggest that? Rather, this is fun. CX-2 gives all empire allies bonus protection whenever an enemy dispels a debuff. Which means a JKR lead will be reducing the health of all these guys with bonus protection constantly. JKR jedi counter to the new clones incoming??? Time will tell…
And one last note: ignoring taunt in 3s is pretty huge, as is instant defeat immunity. Cool stuff.
UNIQUE 2: Focused and Determined (Zeta)
Final Text:
At the start of battle, CX-2 gains 10% Max Health and Offense for each other Empire ally. At the start of each encounter, CX-2 Stealths for 2 turns.
While another Empire ally is active, CX-2 ignores taunt effects on his turn.
Whenever CX-2 uses an ability against the same targeted enemy that he did in the previous turn, he gains 50% Critical Chance and Potency (stacking, max 100%) and all Empire allies recover 15% Health and Protection until he uses an ability on his turn against a different target.
Whenever CX-2 uses an ability against the same targeted enemy 3 times in a row, inflict Order 66 on that enemy for 2 turns, which can't be copied, dispelled, evaded or resisted.
Wait a second… CX-2 ignores taunt anyway??? Without the omicron??? WELL WHY THE HELL AM I GETTING THIS OMICRON, CG? IT DOES NOTHING!** I mean… this ability straight up says CX-2 just needs any other empire ally active to ignore taunt, whereas the omicron says it only works if Appo is active… What?
**(okay yes it does give you like +100% health and instant defeat immunity and also you can’t be targeted but really the ignore taunt seemed like the big get here to me but CX-2 already has it so why is that even listed? Hire a copy editor. PLEASE).
All in all, CX-2’s kit seems pretty ho-hum. He goes with empire units, ignores taunt, and helps his team when he focuses on the same guy all the time. For a dude who looks so cool in his picture, he’s really very boring. As they say in France, “le sigh.”
