Profundity Counters
A staple of defenses the galaxy over, despite only ever being used on offense in the actual films.
This is one of the most common profundity defensive fleets and the strongest variant. Here’s the thing though: You can’t tell what they have as reinforcements before you start the fight, and the reinforcements really matter. If they have Phantom and Ghost, as pictured, the Raddus and Mal and Trixie counters are much less likely to succeed. If they do not have both Phantom and Ghost, those off-meta counters become much stronger.
How to Counter this Fleet:
Obviously Leviathan slaps the shit out of this fleet. We can safely assume that to be the case for all other fleets. As with all levi offensive play, you sabotage engines, reinforce with scimitar, sabotage hangars, reinforce with mk 6, and then win. Levi is brain-dead to play. Nothing ever changes. Please, CG, mix up the meta. Please ignore that I named this “Levi D” - it’s the fleet I use for defense and I’m lazy.
Home One with Bounty Hunters. WHAT? Yes. Use your standard 3x attacker Executor lineup, but have Home One act as the capital ship instead of Executor. BitDynasty prefers to bring HT and IG-2000 as reinforcements; I prefer to bring just Slave One. Both work. This negates all of the “against Empire” bonuses that Rogue One provides, but you still get the very high damage output of your BHers, and P1 will almost certainly get deathmark from Prof’s first series of mass assists. A simple and elegant counter, with the only downside being that you can no longer really use the Executor as a capital ship since there won’t be any BHers to fight for it. This is the most reliable Off-Meta Counter.
Mirror Match. You can easily and safely win a mirror match by bringing the TIE Bomber as your only reinforcement. This is a race to ultimate, so be sure to watch the below video so you know how to play it to ensure you win the race. This is the Highest Banner Counter, and will usually edge out Levi in that regard, just because it tends to get a full fleet heal before winning.
Raddus / Emp Shuttle / Rey’s Falcon / TIE Bomber (Comeuppance). This is a really nice off-meta counter for decent banners, BUT it does not do as well if they have the Phantom and Ghost as reinforcements (50% win rate). If they don’t have both Phantom and Ghost, this counter is closer to 80% effective. So scout ahead to see what they tend to use by visiting your gac bracket on swgoh.gg.
Malevolence. There are a couple of different lineups which can work here, but this is not a guaranteed win by any means (less than 40% winrate vs Phantom/Ghost variant, 55% winrate vs. other variants).
Executrix / Defender / TIE Bomber / Gauntlet (Scythe). Kind of a wild lineup that BitDynasty came up with here, but if it works, it’s not crazy! So you’ll only be crazy part of the time (37% winrate vs. Phantom/Ghost, 80%+ vs. other variants). You’re stalling until scythe comes in and grants formation to the defender, who then one shots a whole bunch of enemies. Not particularly reliable as a first option, but maybe as a cleanup or desperation play. It should be noted that there is limited evidence (fewer than 10 combats) that bringing the TIE/In as a third reinforcement bumps up the success rate vs. Phantom/Ghost to 50%.
BitDynasty has a breakdown of every possible counter. I swear to god, I love that man.
